Embarking on the carnivore diet was more than just a dietary change for me; it became a profound journey of self-discovery and healing. This extreme elimination diet not only stripped away the foods I once consumed without thought but also unveiled the remarkable resilience and potential of my body and mind. The transformation I experienced was profound, moving from a state of despair to one of strength and vitality. Here's what I learned from this transformative journey.

The Power of Elimination

The first and most striking lesson was the immediate impact of removing what I now understand as toxic and harmful substances from my diet. The carnivore diet, by its nature, eliminates virtually all potential dietary toxins—be they preservatives, additives, or even naturally occurring compounds in plant foods that can be problematic for some individuals. I hadn't realized the burden my body was shouldering in processing these substances, nor the damage they were inflicting on both my physical and mental health. 

Energy Unleashed

The removal of these toxins had an unexpected and welcome side effect: a surge in energy. It was as if a fog had lifted, revealing a vitality I hadn't known was possible. This newfound energy wasn't just a fleeting boost but a consistent, reliable force, powering me through my days with a clarity and vigor I hadn't experienced in years. I was always a physically fit individual, even competing in D1 college athletics. This new standard of health had unlocked an entirely new level of athleticism, inner strength and mental fortitude.

The diet emphasized the importance of a healthy gut biome, not just for digestion but for amino acid production and nutrient uptake. I learned that a well-nourished gut is a cornerstone of health, affecting everything from immune function to mental well-being. By focusing on nutrient-dense animal products, and avoiding unnecessary added toxins, I was able to give my body the building blocks it needed for repair and rejuvenation. Another significant factor for the healing process was fasting for at least 14 hours a day. Consuming zero calories. The fasted state takes stress and energy away from the processes of digestion, repairs and cleans the gut biome as well as blood and focuses strictly on healing. Taking care of the microscopic organisms and the ecosystem residing in my gut was no different than taking care of my blood, body and brain.

This dramatic improvement has allowed me to engage with life in ways I once thought impossible.
